The project will undertake renovation of the existing La Fargue Wellness Centre. The Wellness Centre is located in La Fargue in the district of Choiseul which is on the western coast of the island. The centre serves residents from more than ten (10) communities in Choiseul including La Fargue, Reunion, Riviere Doree, Savanne George, Le Riche, Dugard, Cafierre, Roblot, Debreuil, La Maze, Choiseul Village, and Dacretin. The La Fargue centre is the most central and the most utilized of the three (3) wellness centres in the district. Choiseul has an estimated population of 7122 persons (2022 Provisional Census Report) with approximately one half of the population residing in the communities served by the centre. The Centre’s operational hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and the services include, doctor’s clinics, pharmacy services, pre-natal and post-natal clinics, diabetic and hypertensive clinics. It is anticipated that the Wellness Centre will be closed for the duration of the works, approximately three (3) months, requiring clients to travel to an alternative centre either at Mongouge or Delcer also located in Choiseul, to Etangs which is located in the neighbouring district Soufriere, or the Laborie Wellness Centre.
